Trivia Question:

Why is there a corn cob near the heart of Rochester?

Answer:

The infamous Corn Cob Water tower was built in 1931 by Reid-Murdoch Co. of Chicago – Monarch Foods  which is now known as Seneca Foods.  The 50,000 gallon water tower was built to provide water to it’s canning process of corn and peas.

In a local stand up comedy bit, comedian Darren Streblow once said, “I am surprised Rochester has a big corn cob for a water tower.  I would think that a syringe would be more appropriate!”.
